A superyacht inspired by supercars

The two new Strand Craft superyacht designs, the SC122 and the SC166 were designed by Eduard Gray, a renowned Spanish supercar designer. Both 50m & 38m vessels come with an optional custom tender as seen above, stored in the stern garage.

The SC122 and the SC166 were designed to look and perform like supercars with a convertible concept – the bow and aft section convert into an open space at anchor and closed while underway to enable top speed. Strand Craft recently announced their preferred shipyard for these two designs was Ned Ship for its expertise in composites, and its ability to create a very fast and very light vessel, as the concepts were intended to be. The SC166 offers a cruising speed of 30 knots, with a maximum speed of 40 knots, while the SC122 can reach 50 knots.

The aft deck includes a jacuzzi, a built-in bar and sun beds, transforming the bow in a large beach club. The interior design of the SC166 pushed the car theme even further with red leather interiors in addition to lots of chrome and brushed metal – you can even customize the walls with Samurai leather to make the whole yacht bulletproof. This 50m version accommodates five double en-suite cabins equipped with the latest technologies. The other version offers a different interior and four double cabins.

Designs of 73m superyacht Milano launched by ICON Yachts

Milano, the 73.3 m yacht concept by ICON

On June 22, Icon yachts released the designs of Milano, their new 73.3 m (240′) superyacht concept which Hot Lab, from Italy, designed.

The vessel includes 6 decks, and can accommodate 12 guests in 3 large guest suites and 2 VIP suites of 34 m² each. A 140 m² deck is intended solely for the owner with a private terrace and a helipad. The aft sun deck, made of steel and glass, was originally planned for a greenhouse but can be adapted at owner’s request to a gym, a wellness zone or a semi-open lounge. The lower deck provides the guest accommodations and the beach club, with a large teak transom platform which doors can be lowered and a sheltered lounge space comprising bar, sauna and diving equipment store. The bow area of this concept yacht can store two 8.5 m tenders.

The vessel is powered either by twin MTU common rail diesel shaft drives or an electropod drive setup.

Power Trimaran Adastra: concept by John Shuttleworth

Adastra

Adastra is a 139 foot (42.5m) power trimaran designed by John Shuttleworth. She is being built in China at McConaghy Boats, for Hong Kong clients Anto and Elaine Marden, already owners of Mazinga, a sailing trimaran from the same designer.

Adastra’s futuristic look gets her called “alien attack vessel” by some bloggers. The hull is made of glass and Kevlar foam while carbon fiber is used for the rest of the yacht, making it lightweight. The interior is light weight oak using honeycomb panels, and is designed by Jepsen Designs in Hong Kong.

Guest room

The luxury trimaran has low fuel consumption thanks to a fully automated fuel management system. The outrigger height has been optimized for ease motion at sea and a new outrigger shape has been developed to increase stability in waves. Powered by a main Caterpillar engine and two outrigger Yanmar engines, her max speed is 22.5 knots and she can cover 4000 miles when cruising at 17 knots.

Her 16m beam allows a spacious salon area on the main deck with a panoramic view on the waterscape. Forward facing door through the window gives an easy access to s large sunbed on the foredeck.A lounge area and dining area is located on the aft deck, as well as a space for a 4.9m tender and below is a garage for another 3.1m tender. The garage door folds out to create a large diving platform.

The full width master cabin is located aft with access from the deck salon, two further guest cabins, accommodation for the crew, and the galley located forward of the engine room.

Voronoi Yacht Concept

Hot tub, swimming pool, golfing green, sky lounge… All between water and sky, only separated by a honeycomb roof. This is the incredible yacht concept Kim Hyun-Soek came up with.

This 125m yacht could accommodate up to 26 guests in a master suite, 4 VIP rooms, and 8 guest rooms. The interior design appears like an hotel resort: spa, jogging area, dining area, garden, 2 restaurants, a spacious swimming pool, 3 bars including one near the guest rooms, a gym, a cinema, and enough room for two tenders and 12 jet-skies. This megayacht also possesses an emergency evacuation submarine next to the owner suite .

Elite Choice even described this luxury yacht as “so elegant and beautiful that Russian, Chinese and Middle Eastern billionaires would look stupid if they bought it. It is just right for a glamorous Hollywood star or a French princess”.
